Mechanical calculations and checks were carried out on the different components to ensure a reliable structure capable of withstanding the conditions encountered during outdoor operation.
Particular attention has also been paid to the choice of materials, with preference given to proven, high-quality components with a track record of reliability over time. The objective is simple: to offer a lightweight, robust and high-performance antenna system that can be deployed quickly during a radio outing, without compromising performance.
This antenna is not simply the result of calculations and simulations. It has been tested during numerous POTA activations, as well as during various portable operations and amateur radio contests. These repeated real-world deployments have made it possible to validate the design choices and confirm the performance of the complete system under actual operating conditions.
The Delta Loop is a full-wave antenna on 20 meters and also provides multiband operation from 20 to 6 meters, making it a highly versatile solution for portable amateur radio activities.
The side supports are designed to accommodate 7-meter SpiderBeam masts, a well-established reference among amateur radio operators, renowned for their light weight, quality and reliability.
The antenna wire used is Dipolex from Messi & Paoloni, a cable widely recognized in the amateur radio community for its electrical and mechanical properties.
For impedance matching, commercially available baluns are currently used, selected according to the configuration chosen by the radio amateur. A dedicated balun solution specifically developed for this antenna is planned for the future.
The entire system has been designed primarily for portable operation. Once disassembled, the antenna has a reduced transport footprint and can be easily carried from one operating location to another. Assembly and deployment have deliberately been kept simple, allowing the antenna to be installed quickly in the field.
Every detail has been considered with the same objective: to create a coherent, reliable, lightweight and high-performance system, perfectly suited to the needs of amateur radio operators who want to take their equipment outdoors.
The Delta Loop is particularly well suited to POTA, SOTA, field days, contests and other outdoor amateur radio activities. It provides a high-performance antenna that can be deployed quickly, without the need to transport a heavy or cumbersome installation.
The entire system is designed by a radio amateur, for radio amateurs, drawing on practical field experience and extensive real-world use.
Among the available options, a dedicated transport bag has been carefully selected to carry not only the antenna and its components, but also the various accessories that may be required during outdoor radio activities.
Here again, the choice was made with optimization in mind: practicality, capacity, compactness and ease of transport were all taken into consideration to provide a solution genuinely suited to taking the antenna into the field.
